WHAT WE ARE

The content partners of ETNOFOLK project are: IEASCR, IESAS, IEHAS, SRCSAS. They have independently produced various types of digitized content in frame of their own activities and smaller projects and consequently analyzed the possible ways of presentation of this digital content to the broad public. In the same time they observed the lack of coordination and cooperation in capitalization of the folk cultural heritage on all levels. Many tourists nowadays look for unique country's or regions' cultures, customs, arts and social practices, which differentiate them from other cultures. Although cultural heritage, and particularly folk culture heritage, has become a crucial and growing part of the development of tourism and regional development in Central Europe, the economic potential of this domain has still been quite weakly exploited. The proposed project reflects these basic conditions. The greatest opportunity of this consortium is the possibility to show the scattered information in new relations and allow the utilization of the aggregated digital content in a new ways. The content providers are able to produce their own content, but none of them has sufficient expertise to design, develop and implement the feasible solution, aggregating the heterogeneous content coming from the remote repositories. AiP Beroun was therefore invited to the consortium as the technical coordinator because of its unique expertise gained during the realization of ENRICH project funded by eContent+ programme, creating the European Digital Library of Manuscripts. This project verified the applicability of the described solution based on decentralized location of the content (the central database stores only the metadata). On the other hand it also clearly confirmed the need of technological coordination from the very beginning of the project, starting with the preparation activities (pre-project survey of content amount, type, availability and accessibility), providing the technological advisory and supervision to the less experienced content partners.

Matej Bel University will provide its expertise in the socio-economic studies focusing on capitalization of the potential of the folk culture. The content partners usually concentrate on the content itself, its study and preservation. Matej Bel University will therefore bring the broader view and define the common methodology of data collection and analysis,. The general conclusions and recommendations will then be drafted by the university Österreichisches Volksliedwerk agrees to become associated partner in case the project is supported by Central Europe programme. The institute has well structured repositories of data related to folk culture and is interested to allow their harvesting by ETNOFOLK OAI-PMH harvester.

Identify and describe the relevant stakeholders and key actors and how they will be involved in the partnership. The partnership consists of public and private bodies with cultural, consultation and technical background. All the institutions have very good network of the contacts to the public administration institutions and relevant bodies on the local, regional and national level. There is number of relevant stakeholders in each participating country. Probably the most important ones are the representatives of organizations working in the domain of promotion of regional tourism and the operators of the monuments, museums, accommodation and other parts of the regional tourism infrastructure. The permanent partnerships will be established with these organizations in order to inform them about the project developments and outputs. At least 2 workshops for stakeholders will be organized in each country, the latter one including the presentation of the platform and training of its use. Probably the most important stakeholders are following:

Agencies such as Czechtourism, Hungarian Tourism, SACR, Austriantourism, Tourist Association of Slovenia; Ministries of Regional Development or the equivalent bodies; National Offices of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage; National Commissions of UNESCO; Centres for Traditional Culture; Museums of Folk Culture; Associations of Travel Agencies and many others will be invited for cooperation. The stakeholders will be in the beginning invited to express their experience from the field of preservation and capitalization of the folk culture heritage. Once the project results will be available, the stakeholders will be encouraged to promote and use them within their routine activities. The portal will be "open", i.e. allowing the stakeholders to actively participate on the creation of content. Reciprocally the information sources created by the stakeholders will be able to avail the information provided by ETNOFOLK portal.
